đŸ‹ī¸ Ideal Body Weight (IBW) Calculator

Find your clinically recommended ideal body weight range based on your biological sex and height. This tracker computes predictions using the trusted Devine, Robinson, and Miller formulas utilized in medical research.

What is Ideal Body Weight (IBW)?

Ideal Body Weight formulas were initially introduced in clinical pharmacology to compute safe medication clearances and dosages. Today, they serve as an excellent benchmark alongside BMI to measure metabolic targets.

The Clinical Medical Formulas Used

All standard calculations rely on a baseline height profile of 5 feet (60 inches). For every extra inch above 5 feet, specific multiplication multipliers are added:
Devine Formula (1974): Male: 50.0 kg + 2.3 kg per inch | Female: 45.5 kg + 2.3 kg per inch. (Most widely accepted)
Robinson Formula (1983): Male: 52.0 kg + 1.9 kg per inch | Female: 49.0 kg + 1.7 kg per inch.
Miller Formula (1983): Male: 56.2 kg + 1.41 kg per inch | Female: 53.1 kg + 1.36 kg per inch.
